Humanity was a single community, and Allah (cc) sent prophets as bearers of good news and as warners , and He sent down with them the Book of truth, so that they might judge between people concerning that over which they differed. (Quran, 2:213)

Prophets are people chosen by God, the messengers of His message and have accompanied human history from the beginning. Belief in the prophets is one of the six Islamic articles of faith.

In Islam, the first human, Adam, was already a prophet, and according to the Quran, a prophet was sent to all the peoples that came after him: And We raised up among every people a messenger (who preached): "Worship Allah (cc) and avoid idols." (Quran 16:36)
